HH Memberships
It all starts with 5 items
First, always check for these 5 items before starting any new or renewed HH accounts:
In the Linked Contacts tab of the account get the HH-Membership or HH-Contact.

Link-type
***IF you use the wrong link type or the accounts are not linked - There won't be any dates for the system to find and the account will be deactivated
In the membership info tab of the linked primary member.
Membership type – FFP, Challenge, Preferred, and Lead
Membership status – Active or Inactive
Membership stage – New or Renewed
IF you use the wrong membership stage - The wrong dates will be ported over, and the account will be deactivated
IF you use the wrong membership type – You will give the member a free membership upgrade or downgrade
IF the primary membership status is Inactive the HH-Account will be inactive as well.
These 5 items are key for the automation to work properly. This is where 90% of mistakes occur.
Terms
Primary Account – Is the account the HH-membership/contact accounts are linked to. This account has a paid-in-full membership and is the main contact for the family. Any paid memberships need to stay on the Primary account, do not sell a membership or renewal and add it to the HH account.
HH-Account – Is a term to encompass both the HH-Membership account and the HH-Contact accounts. The HH-Accounts are a free benefit of being a paid member, where your spouse and children under the age of 18 can be members of the same level.
HH-Membership – Is a family membership with Portal access that shares membership type, status, stage, and end dates. This free membership addition is for spouse or children of a primary member to attend events, educate themselves, and invest.
HH-Contact – Is a family account that with no access to the Portal that shares membership type, status, stage, and end dates. This free membership addition is for spouse or children of a primary member to attend events but have no interest in education or investing. If a family member with the HH-Contact account wants to take the education, they must use the primaries account to access it. They can change from a contact account to a membership account.
Linked contacts and their information
Go to the “Linked Contacts” tab
*You could see one or more linked contacts with different link types
* If there are no linked contacts, the linked contact will need to be added.
You can click on the Linked contacts account name link to open their account
Linked contact types for HH accounts
There are currently 9 different linked types in the system. For HH-Membership and HH-Accounts the only linked type that should be used are the “spouse” and “child under 18”.
**AS of 5/9/22 the only options on the HH-Form are (1) spouse/significant other and (3) Child (1) 18 and under. The linked type (23) Child (2) 18 and under and (25) Child (3) 18 and under will be added to the form and automation soon.
** If there is ever a need to use one of the other link types, send a ticket to support at support@luinc.com and we will add the HH-Membership.
To add a linked contact –
While viewing a contact record, click on the Linked Contacts tab in the top row
Search for a contact record to link to this contact. Type the name, email, or number of the person you want to link to and click the Search button
Select a type of link from the drop-down. (For HH-Accounts the only linked type that should be used are the “spouse” and “child under 18”)
Click Save Link.
The contact is now linked to the one that you are viewing and should look like the image below.
Now we need to get the membership info of the primary/source account
**** DO NOT RELY ON THE “MEMBERSHIP STAGE” FIELD ON THE GENERAL TAB
Click on the Memberships tab on the primary account to view the data that will be copied over to the HH-Account.
Make sure all the information here is correct before you add the HH-Account. Please wait until these fields are updated if you recently added a new or renewal membership to the primary account.
Adding the HH-Membership or HH-Contact.
**** Never add an HH-membership to a primary account
There is one form for FFP and Challenge and a second form for Preferred.
*1.0 HH- FFP CHA Accounts- No Sub - No Portal
*1.1 HH-PREFERRED Memberships
*** The “1.0 HH- FFP CHA Accounts- No Sub - No Portal” will go down to one choice for new and one choice for renewed in the future.
The forms work the same as they always have, the choices have been simplified to make them easier to use. Use the information gather from the Primary account to fill in the radio buttons on the forms and click save.
It will take a few minutes for the membership to be created if you selected the HH-Preferred New Membership or the HH-Preferred Renewed Membership.
The Preferred HH-contact account choices with - No Sub – No Portal or any of the FFP or Challenge HH-Account choices will not create a (Sub)subscription in the orders tab.
If you used the FFP/Challenge HH Account form or selected the Contact – No Sub – No Portal from the Preferred form, the automation will trigger and port over the information from the primary account and add the membership tags and notes.
Processing the Subscription
The new order will be created with a $0 order since it is free, * I have made this process automatic, so you do not need to add a payment to trigger the automation.
The newest subscription will appear at the bottom of the list if you want to check.
